Hair Regeneration Treatment FAQs

Hair regeneration is possible with the right treatment. Noticing that you need help with your hair is the first step to seeing a hair doctor. Asking the right questions can help prepare you for your treatment. Here are a few questions that you can ask about hair regeneration during your consultation.

What is alopecia?

This is a problem caused by an auto-immune disease. The body’s own immune system sees hair follicles as sources of viral or bacterial infection. When attacks happen, the follicles stop functioning properly. This interrupts the proper cycle of hair growth. The individual then suffers from hair loss.

Are women susceptible to hair loss?

Yes, and this condition may be permanent or temporary. This condition is less common in women, and the causes of hair loss are typically different from those in men. Women may experience this hair crisis due to the overuse of hair products, menopause, or contraception.

Who is a good candidate for hair regeneration treatment?

An individual with healthy hair on the back and sides of the head is a good candidate for hair regeneration treatment. These donor sites are best suited for grafts. Those who have had many cosmetic procedures in the past or scalp injuries resulting in hair loss are ideal candidates.

The patient must have the motivation to have denser hair and a more prominent hairline. There should also be a desire to have thick facial hair. Age is not a factor in restoring hair. The most crucial part of the treatment is having healthy donor sites.

What is micro blend grafting?

Pattern baldness affects the front and top of the scalp. The sides and back of the scalp still grow healthy hair. These U-shaped areas can provide autografts during hair regeneration treatment. The hairs from these donor sites will set their roots in the balding areas.

A micrograft has one to three hair follicles. Mini grafts or follicular groupings have about four to six hairs. Traditional punch grafts have 10-20 hairs. Micro or mini grafts have fine hair that is almost the same as natural hair. These grafting can provide a natural-looking hairline because they are blended in.

How long is this treatment?

The patient must go through many sessions at different intervals. That said, one or two visits can provide successful results, including a full head of hair. The sessions typically have an interval of multiple months. Each session will last for three to four hours.

What should the patient prepare for after the hair regeneration treatment?

Most individuals can return to daily activities one to two days after the treatment. The patient should wash their hair the morning after each session. Limiting strenuous activities or workouts is ideal for five to seven days. The hair doctor will prescribe medications to treat swelling.

Scabs and crusts may appear for about seven to 10 days. These can occur with itchiness at the hair regeneration treatment sites. Numbness at the donor sites will disappear in a few weeks to months. The hair doctor will recommend follow-up visits at four- to six-month intervals. This will give them enough time to examine the results.

What are the standard results of a hair regeneration treatment?

A micrografting procedure will have invisible scars. It also uses very little hair, which is ideal for future hair transplant procedures. The coverage that the patient receives will depend on the thickness of the donor site and the number of sessions involved. It also depends on the severity of the hair loss.

Many of the newly transplanted hairs will fall off in one month. After about three months, new hair will start to grow and will continue growing normally. Six months or so after the hair regeneration treatment, the new hairs will start to look natural. The surrounding hair will hide the incision or incisions at the donor site.
