Non Surgical Hair Loss Treatment Options

Hair loss can happen for many reasons, but nonsurgical hair restoration has come a long way in being able to give you back the head full of hair you want without having to be put under for surgery to do it. There are a number of different options that can be effective in restoring hair, and finding the right one for your unique situation can be as easy as talking to your doctor. Once you’ve identified the root cause of your hair loss, the doctor can help you find the right option that will work for you.

That’s why in this post, we will be looking at the reasons behind hair loss and some of the nonsurgical hair restoration treatment options available today. Hair restoration has come a long way in recent years to give both men and women back the natural hair growth they can be proud of.

Causes of hair loss

Before you determine the right treatment for you, it’s important to know some of the reasons why hair loss may be happening to you.

The most common reason for hair loss for both men and women is genetics. We get passed down certain genetic information from our parents that can determine whether or not we develop a condition known as male or female pattern baldness, where our hair begins to thin and fall out. Thankfully, many treatment options have been proven to revitalize hair growth and give people back a great head of hair despite their genetics.

Another major cause of hair loss is an illness and related treatment or medication. Conditions like alopecia cause the hair to simply fall out, and the more severe the condition, the worse the hair loss can be, sometimes covering the entire body. In other cases, the treatment for the illness can cause hair loss, such as in the case of cancer. Most of the time, however, hair doesn’t simply stop growing; you just have to find the right treatment option that is effective at stimulating hair growth so that it comes back naturally.

Lifestyle factors are another thing that can play a significant role in losing hair. Changes in lifestyle such as diet, hair care routine, even the hairstyle we wear, and how much stress we are under can all impact hair growth. Changes in our bodies, such as pregnancy or hormonal imbalances, can also play a role in our hair growth. Making adjustments to our lifestyle in combination with the proper treatment can see impressive hair growth results.

Nonsurgical hair restoration treatment options

There are now several options when it comes to nonsurgical treatment for hair loss.

One of the most common options that are still quite effective is medications that help to stimulate hair growth. There are topical applications as well as creams that work to improve hair growth for both men and women.

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is another option that is highly effective. It works by having the patient donate platelets that then get separated and reinfused into the body in a high concentration at the site of the hair loss. Platelets are a type of cell found in the blood that stimulates new cell growth. Delivering a concentrated dose to the site of hair loss helps to grow new hair when the body has stopped doing so naturally.

Laser light therapy is another option that has shown great results. This is typically administered via a special cap that is placed over the head. The special infrared laser lights focus on stimulating hair growth from the existing follicles to reactivate the body’s natural hair growth process.

There are other more specific options, such as hormone treatments that work to rebalance the body’s hormone levels in an attempt to restart hair growth, cortisone shots, microneedling, and scalp tension reduction devices.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, one of the best ways to improve hair growth and keep hair growing once you’ve started treatment is to make sure you eat a diet that includes many natural oils from fruits, nuts, and whole grains and gets plenty of nutrients. It’s also a good idea to switch to lean meats that have less fat and higher vitamin and protein content for overall health.
